Support your Pregnancy Yoga Student – a free workshop for yoga teachers and trainee yoga teachers
Many yoga teachers feel nervous about having a pregnant student in the class. Maybe you know certain things are not advised but you’re not sure which or you don’t know why, or how to modify.
Your 200hour course was amazing but there just wasn’t time to cover everything.
This short workshop will give you three key principles to keep your pregnant student safe in your general classes should you choose to continue teaching them.
You’ll meet other yoga teachers and get a chance to discuss how to handle it when one of your students is pregnant.
We’ll do a short pregnancy yoga practice, because its all about the practice.
You’ll get info on next steps if you decide you’d like to learn more.
Pregnancy can be a really beautiful time in a person’s life but it can also be challenging, isolating and a roller coaster of emotions, upheavals and life changes.
Yoga teaches us to use our breath to anchor us, connect with our bodies to feel centred and self aware and relax and let go when we need to find peace and rest. It is an amazing support for times of change.
- PDF of poses – traffic lights, what’s good to good, what to be careful with and anything not advised in a general class
- Sample lesson plan
- Fun workshop, with supportive, empowering environment so you can inform yourself and decide what’s going to work best in your classes.
What you need to bring
- Openness, sense of curiosity and fun
- Questions you have
- Your happy place to practice, and mat water, blanket, plus any other props you’d like
- All your stress from the week so you can dump it out on the mat
This is a short work shop and is not intended as a full training. We won’t be covering what a full specialist pregnancy yoga class or course would look like, nor will we cover all the postures and practices for specific pregnancy related complaints that come up
If you are very new to teaching yoga or if you teach very large classes, fiery hot yoga, very dynamic fast paced yoga or yin yoga you may decide after the workshop that it’s not going to work for you to adapt your practices for a pregnant beginner yoga student. That’s fine. We will discuss what to do in that situation. You are still more than welcome to attend the workshop.
Empower yourself to support your students and build their confidence in themselves and their bodies. Meet other yoga teachers and share a lovely morning of pranayama, asana, and chatting together.
What yoga teachers are saying..
Clare is calm and calming, wise, strong, funny, compassionate and easy to approach. Her knowledge of yoga and the body is astounding. I hope I have the opportunity to attend one of her courses in the very near future.
Clare is who I was honoured to be taught by and receive my Pregnancy YTT from. A genuinely beautiful lady, who is a specialist in this field! For anyone thinking of doing this, you won’t ever regret it.
I completed pregnancy yoga teacher training with Clare (virtually) and would highly recommend it. It was very practical with lots of discussion too. She is a great mentor and inspired me to be more confident working with people during their pregnancy.
